2023 Is Around the Corner … Time to Make Sure You Are Prepared For New Laws Affecting Compensation and Benefits
In 2022, as we have slowly emerged from the pandemic, some things have returned to “normal” more quickly than others. For example, the California legislature continued its normal pattern of advancing and adopting a host of new labor and employment laws, most of which become effective on January 1, 2023. A stack of employment law bills are now awaiting action by the Governor and he has until September 30 to sign, veto, or otherwise not act. Our annual legal update will include not only a review of the substance of each new law, but will also offer practical suggestions for compliance.
Denise Visconti currently is a Shareholder in Littler’s San Diego office. She handles a broad variety of employment litigation matters for clients, most often stemming from claims arising under the California Labor Code and the Fair Labor Standards Act, alleging overtime misclassification and other wage and hour violations. She has handled cases alleging: failure to timely pay wages and overtime, unlawful commission plans, failure to provide meal and rest breaks, unlawful deductions from wages, failure to reimburse business related expenses, and related claims. Denise also regularly provides advice and counseling to clients regarding a number of employment and wage and hour issues.
