What does the California Legislature have in store for 2024?

Be Prepared For New Laws Affecting Compensation and Benefits

• The 2023 California Legislature is the most diverse group ever, and one-fourth of lawmakers are new.  That means a lot of new legislation on the Governor’s desk in 2023 that – if signed – will take effect January 1, 2024.  Currently, there are 900 bills pending that must be acted on by October 14, including a number that impact employers.  Our annual legal update will include a review of those bills the Governor signs as well as practical suggestions for compliance.

Denise Visconti currently is a Shareholder in Littler’s San Diego office.  Denise has litigated hundreds of matters – from class action litigation, representative actions, private attorney general matters, to single-plaintiff actions – over the last 20 years.   Currently, Denise spends the bulk of her time advising organizations and their human resources teams in all aspects of the employment relationship, including counseling employers on state and federal legal requirements, updating policies and job descriptions, training managers and recruiters, and advising employers on compliance with federal and state issues related to pay equity.
